SJSCAT Community Run
The entire Saint John Southworth Community came together in support of Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School's Giving Day in a community run at the end of September.
Mr Bailey, Teacher of PE at Cardinal Vaughan, brought together current CVMS Sixth Form pupils Keeran S, Nathan D and Patrick R with a committed group of Vaughan alumni to raise money for the Love & Service Fund by running between the schools in the Saint John Southworth Catholic Academy Trust.
They set off on their 10-mile run from the Vaughan visiting Ms Fernandes-Viana, Headteacher at St Joseph's, Maida Vale, then Ms Cunningham, Executive Headteacher at St John XXIII, and finally, Ms Wyatt, Executive Headteacher at St Joseph's, Chelsea & Chief School Improvement Officer for SJSCAT, before returning to the Vaughan where they joined Mr Brett, Teacher of PE and Head of First Form, and Ms Georgiakakis, Teacher of Classics, Latin & Greek, so that Team Vaughan could return to school together and celebrate the end of their Giving Day.
First Form pupils and Head Prefects awaited the team at the school gates with Mr Stubbings, Headmaster at Cardinal Vaughan & CEO of SJSCAT, to celebrate their victory.
Well done to Vaughan alumni Shane Dolan (OV 2009), Liam White (OV 2011), Thomas Daborn (OV 2013), Kieran Moriarty (OV 2013), and William Whiteley (OV 2016) for taking part. Thank you to the pupils and staff who met the runners at each school, encouraging them, and for providing water along the way.
Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School raised £55,000 for the Love & Service Fund during the event. To find more about fundraising at the school you can read more here.
